for one of our upcoming units at our new location!!!!
Since its start as a grassroots organization Aboriginal Housing Society has recognized the great need for appropriate and affordable housing for Indigenous community members. The Society has tirelessly advocated for affordable housing, fostered partnerships, and developed and sustained Affordable Housing to serve our many tenants. There remans a high demand for housing, and we continue to work on increasing our inventory of homes.
Vision Statement: To provide affordable housing, primarily to indigenous people, in a way that builds a better tomorrow.
The Society has received no operational grants and sustains itself through rent income. Currently the Society employs two individuals, a CEO and a Tennant Relations Officer. Yard maintenance work is performed by on a part time basis by tenants. When possible tenants or Indigenous contractors are hired to complete clean ups and or renovations to any of the buildings or units as required.
Thats how many rental units we have in our Koh Koonoon property. It currently houses our office as well in unit #22.
This reflects the time frame that each and every resident is shown respect and valued.
One step towards solving a severe housing need is all we can do at a time. It all starts with one person wanting to help somebody else!
This is the amount of apartments that will be available when our new project comes online later this year!
